Tiffany & Co. launches solar-powered rope watch inspired by Jean Schlumberger
In a stunner move, Tiffany & Co. presents a new chapter in its storied watch design heritage with the launch of the Rope watch, fitted with cutting-edge solar-powered technology.
Honoring a Legendary Motif
Paying tribute to the iconic rope motif by famed designer Jean Schlumberger, Tiffany & Co. has unveiled a new jewelry watch collection that elegantly merges heritage craftsmanship with modern technology. The design draws inspiration from Schlumberger’s mid-20th-century creations, rooted in the braids, tassels, and cords of his childhood in Alsace, France, where his family ran a textile business.
A Sustainable Innovation

Marking a shift from traditional watchmaking, these new timepieces are solar-powered—a first for Tiffany & Co. Developed in collaboration with Swiss movement manufacturer La Joux-Perret, the watch uses a semi-translucent dial (available in white mother of pearl or high-gloss black) to allow sunlight to energize the movement.

- A full charge provides up to 8 months of power.
- Just 2 minutes of sunlight can energize the watch for a full 24 hours.
- Daily wear in daylight helps maintain the power reserve continuously.
Elegance in Design
Offered in two sizes—27mm and 33mm—the watch cases are crafted in 18-karat yellow gold. The bezel features two concentric rope motifs separated by a ring of round brilliant diamonds, adding a refined sparkle. The attention to detail is seen even in the minute hand, which mimics the twisted rope shape.
Timeless Meets Timely
By reimagining Schlumberger’s textile-inspired motif with a sustainable, high-tech movement, Tiffany’s new Rope watch perfectly balances classic elegance with forward-thinking innovation, appealing to both collectors and modern luxury watch enthusiasts.
