Matières Fécales Tops Vogue Runway’s Most-Viewed Spring 2027 Shows
Paris label Matières Fécales has topped Vogue Runway’s ranking of the most-viewed spring 2027 collections, appearing on the list for the first time. The show by designers Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran outperformed far bigger houses, with Prada and Dior taking second and third place.
Casting With a Message
All 99 looks were modeled by people of color, a choice Vogue Runway’s Nicole Phelps believes drove the interest. Bhaskaran said the brand wants to bring soul and humanity back to fashion, arguing that the gap between the 1% and the 99% is opportunity. Rihanna’s arrival 63 minutes late added buzz, but Phelps noted that popularity did not depend on celebrity or a huge marketing budget. The ranking measures how many people clicked a show, not how many slides they viewed.
Established names held strong positions. Chanel placed fourth, Gucci fifth and Saint Laurent sixth, a jump from ninth last season. Miu Miu slipped from fifth to seventh, and Dior fell from first to third.
Quiet Minimalism Breaks Through
Jil Sander, under designer Simone Bellotti, entered the list at tenth. His offbeat minimalism, which he describes as slightly “wrong,” beat louder shows from better-known brands. Burberry and Victoria Beckham also appear as new entries, at eighth and ninth.
Vogue Runway suggests shoppers increasingly want individuality that whispers rather than shouts. It also floated the idea that Bellotti’s work reflects a moment when life seems normal but subtly off.
Moschino’s Milan show, which featured 400 extras, was not ranked but drew praise for showing how fashion must contend with real life. Together, the results suggest audiences are rewarding fashion with a point of view over sheer scale.
