Alec Baldwin has pleaded not guilty to ‘Rust’ involuntary manslaughter

Alec Baldwin has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges stemming from his role in a fatal shooting on the set of the film Rust. Which will continue filming under conditions imposed by a New Mexico judge on Thursday.

In a court filing, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer stated that Baldwin will be allow to “have contact with potential witnesses” only as it relates to the completion also promotion of the film.

Though he is permit to work with those witnesses. Baldwin is not permit to discuss “the accident at issue” or “the substance of his or the witnesses’ potential testimony in the case” with them.

The producers of the film announced last week that they would continue filming this spring. In addition to starring in “Rust,” Baldwin is also a producer.

In addition to the criminal charges, the Academy Award-winning actor is facing a civil suit from the family of Halyna Hutchins. The cinematographer who was kill on set.

Sommer starting in the same filing that Baldwin is permit to discuss the accident with witnesses name. As co-defendants in the civil case as long as attorneys are present.

The decision came on the same day that Baldwin filed a waiver of his first court appearance. Which was schedule for Friday. Sommer approved the waiver subject to a number of conditions. Including Baldwin’s inability to possess firearms or consume alcohol, as well as his compliance with witness interaction restrictions while filming.
