Casablanca Spring 2027 Turns Paris Into a Brazilian Carnival
Charaf Tajer staged one of Paris Fashion Week’s most joyful moments with Casablanca Spring 2027, a high-energy ready-to-wear collection inspired by the colors, music and landscape of Brazil. The show took place on October 2 near Belleville, the Paris neighborhood where the designer grew up.
A Dome Full of Palm Trees
The venue was Espace Niemeyer in the 19th arrondissement, designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer and known for its curving spaces and futuristic dome. Tajer said he had long been fascinated by the building, never sure whether it was a sculpture or a museum. For the show, he filled the dome with palm trees and tropical plants, and models circled a small oasis.
Juice Bar Colors and Hibiscus Prints
The clothes were easy and bright. Citrusy shades recalled the juice bars of Ipanema Beach, alongside the bolder tones of the Brazilian flag. Boxy shorts and a matching top came in fresh-squeezed orange, while a skinny silk pajama suit matched the green of a caipirinha lime. Pink, green and yellow garden prints covered halter tops, fluid skirts and cabana tops, and a sarong-like skirt in sunset hues featured a shark motif.
Hibiscus blooms ran throughout the collection, appearing as placement prints on drawstring surfer shorts and patchwork jackets, as a pink accent on a white tailored suit’s buttonhole, and as appliqués on white knit dresses and handbags.
Carnival-ready skirts and pants with long swishy fringes, a bikini top made of two sparkling hibiscus blossoms, and striped flapper styles rounded out the lineup. Accessories included a Casablanca-branded surfboard and a pastel overnight bag.
The collection will travel to Brazil early next year for Carnival, where Casablanca plans a large event with Alma, a company specializing in the festival.
