Why Elon Musk Has ‘Trust’ Jack Dorsey To Run Twitter A Look Back At Their Friendship

If Twitter has become Why Elon Musk world, Jack Dorsey is ready to live in it.

After weeks of talks between the world’s wealthiest people and Twitter executives, Why Elon Musk bought the company for $54.20 per share, a $44 billion deal. The same day, Twitter founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey tweeted Musk’s “only solution” he believes in changing the platform.

“I don’t think anyone should own or manage Twitter,” Dorsey tweeted Monday night. “He wants to be a protocol-level public good, not a corporation. But the solution to the problem is society… I believe in Musk’s mission to expand the light of consciousness.”

As it turns out, Musk and Dorsey share a shared vision of how Twitter works. In the same thread, Dorsey tweeted that “Musk’s goal of creating a platform. That is ‘trustworthy and as inclusive as possible’ is true.” He also wrote that current Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal shares this mission which is very important. “The return of [Twitter] from Wall Street” and its promotional model.

The sentiment appears to reflect Musk’s proposal earlier this month. The billionaire said, “Twitter needs to be turned into a private company. Precisely because I believe in its potential to become a platform for free speech worldwide. I think that free speech is a public imperative for democracy. that works.”

But Musk and Dorsey’s resemblance surpassed Monday’s headlines. At Dmexco’s 2016 digital marketing event in Cologne, Dorsey said Musk was a “perfect model” for using Twitter, according to Business Insider. In a February 2019 Twitter interview, Dorsey told New York Times reporter Kara Swisher. That she respects Musk’s “focus on solving existential problems and publicly sharing his thoughts” on the platform.

Musk replied, “Thanks, Jack, Twitter rock.

At a company event on Twitter in January 2020, Dorsey Musk asked about the platform and how he would improve it. Musk said he would find a way to better differentiate bots from real people on the platform. Which Musk also promised to improve after offering to buy Twitter.
