Naomi Watts is honest about plastic surgery and admits she sometimes gets close

In an InStyle special issue about menopause, The Mulholland Drive actress talks about the beauty ideals of an aging woman and whether or not she will ever have plastic surgery.

In his latest film, Goodnight Mom, Watt’s character undergoes plastic surgery to look youthful and youthful. When asked if he would do the same, Watts, 54, admitted he had seriously considered it.

In an interview with InStyle, the actress also opened up about her aging experience in Hollywood. “My career didn’t start until I was in my early 30s; then Mulholland Drive came out,” he said. “I was also told at the time that your career would end around 40.” “It didn’t make sense to me,” Watts continued. “Someone said to me, ‘Well, then you become disabled.'” I was disgusted and overwhelmed by that statement. I assume that means when you can’t have any more children, but then what?

Watts also spoke about the differences between aging men and women in the entertainment industry. “We as a society look at men as they get older and think they become more attractive,” she told InStyle. “There comes the point during perimenopause where you feel like you’re losing yourself, but I’d like to see more information about how you come back,” Watts says. “And when you get yourself back, you’re the most authentic version of yourself because you’re no longer a victim of your hormones.”

Watts recently launched Stripes; a beauty brand focused on combating the symptoms – and stigma – of menopause.
