Marlene Barrett thanks fans for encouragement, then revealing cancer diagnosis
The Chicago Med star revealed Marlene Barrett was diagnosed with uterine and ovarian cancer in July and is undergoing chemotherapy.
Marlene Barrett thanked her fans for their support after revealing that she was secretly battling cervical and ovarian cancer. On Wednesday, the 44-year-old Chicago Med star posted a photo on Instagram expressing her gratitude for her kind messages since sharing her diagnosis.
“Overwhelmed by the support also love I received,” she wrote in the caption. “Thank you for your encouragement.
The actress also credits her family at Wolf Entertainment and Chicago Med for their help. “I couldn’t have finish this without so many people reaching out to support me. It’s physically impossible!” said Barett. “Thanks to those who make it easy for me to come to work and do what I do daily!”
“Words can’t express how grateful my husband and I are. I pray for this extended family around the world so that as humans, we remember how BIG life is and how much LOVE can bring a person’s life,” he continued. “That being said… Tonight’s episode of #chicagomed is special because I had a hard time filming two episodes. First, I think you will enjoy what we have put together. I was blown away by the urge!” Barrett was first diagnosed in July when doctors told him he had a ball-sized tumor in his uterus and left ovary.
“The first experience was a shock to my femininity,” Barrett, who has no family history of uterine or ovarian cancer, told the news. “I didn’t think them, but when they showed me the CT scan, I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ The first question was, “Am I going to live?” I just fell into my husband’s arms. It’s still hard to think about it.”
