Jenny Garth was ‘shocked’ by the diagnosis of osteoarthritis
The Beverly Hills 90210 alum tells Jenny Garth about her osteoarthritis diagnosis and how she deals with it daily.
Jenny Garth reveals what her lifestyle has been like dealing with her arthritis.
Speaking to news recently, the 50-year-old graduate of 90210 Beverly Hills described the “shocking” moment when she learned she was diagnosed with osteoarthritis also why it was so important to share her story.
“I was just used to being a hunter and always thinking about business. And I had to raise three little girls and always had a dog. I’m always on my knees, up and down, up and down, and just doing everything, getting in and out of the car a million times a day; that’s what it feels like. And the little things aren’t as painful as they used to be,” the actress told news. “So it was just a gradual realization that something was different,” she added. “That’s what made me go to the doctor first.”
The damage is irreversible, but the symptoms can be managed by staying active, maintaining a healthy weight, and seeking treatment.”
And I was shocked when I heard the word arthritis come out of his mouth,” he explained. “Because I associate arthritis with … I’m not old enough to have arthritis. Let’s put it that way. But yeah, arthritis can happen at any age, and I didn’t realize it.”
As someone who has always been active, he believes years of physical activity have damaged his joints, but, he says, arthritis runs in his family too.
“I started talking to my mother and other family members when I realized they were suffering too. So many people do it but don’t want to talk about it,” he said. “So it was one of those situations, and we just acknowledged it and were open and honest. Let’s talk about how to deal with it, fix it, and ease the pain.”
