Four-Pillar Action Plan Unveiled

As part of a strategic response, India is set to implement a four-pillar action plan to counter the proliferation of deep fakes. The objectives include detection, prevention, strengthening reporting mechanisms, and public awareness. The government aims to finalize regulations within the next few weeks.

Clear and Actionable Plan in 10 Days

Following a productive meeting with stakeholders, Minister Vaishnaw announced plans to unveil a clear and actionable plan within the next 10 days. The plan will be structured around the four pillars of detection, prevention, reporting mechanisms, and public awareness.

Deep Fake, a Grave Threat to Democracy

December Meeting to Refine Draft Regulation

The issue gained public attention with a fake video of Bollywood actress Rashmika Mandana. Prominent actors, including Amitabh Bachchan, have called for legal remedies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the issue, emphasizing the urgent need to combat deep fakes.
