Early Life and Education:
Gayathri Irosha Dias, popularly known as Gayathri Dias, was born on April 16, 1975, in Matara, Sri Lanka.
She grew up as the second child in her family, with an elder brother and a younger sister. Her father, Ranjith Henry Dias, worked at the Czechoslovakian Embassy until his retirement.
Gayathri attended several schools for her education, including Methodist College, Samudradevi, and Karunaratne Bauddhaloka Maha Vidyalaya.
Sadly, her mother, Eujin Alahpperuma, passed away due to COVID-19 on June 13, 2021.
Career Beginnings and Marriage:
Gayathri’s journey in the entertainment industry started at a young age.
At 17, while pursuing her GCE A/L studies, she landed a role as a receptionist at TNL TV.
Her acting career took off with her debut in the New Year teledrama “Udaara Geethaya.”
In 2001, she made her cinematic debut with a supporting role in the film “Oba Magema Wewa,” directed by V. Siwadasan.
In 1996, Gayathri married popular actor and director Channa Perera, whom she met during the teledrama “Makara Vijithaya.”
The couple tied the knot on September 26, 1996. They are blessed with two daughters, Maleesha Parindya and Duasha Adithya.
Maleesha completed her education at Musaeus College, while Duasha is currently studying at Royal Institute International School.

In the Hair Asia Pacific 2003 competition, Dias clinched the title of the most outstanding Sri Lankan performer, along with the first runner-up award for the Nail Art category.
In 2016, Gayathri represented Sri Lanka at the Mrs. Top of the World beauty pageant.
During the pageant, she showcased her talent by winning the mini-pageant titled ‘Mrs. Talent’ for a modern Kandyan dance performance.
