From iPhones to lobsters: Uber 2025 lost & found index is here

Uber: The rideshare firm’s annual list of things that passengers leave in cars will make you nod your head — and double-check the seat before you go.

Watch Your Pockets Before You Hop Out

If you’re reading this from the back seat of an Uber, consider this your friendly reminder: double-check your pockets before jumping out. According to Uber’s ninth-annual Lost & Found Index, plenty of passengers didn’t — and the results are both hilarious and horrifying.

The yearly report highlights the most commonly forgotten items, as well as the downright strangest things left behind in rides across the globe. And yes, someone really forgot two mattresses.

Apple Products: The Reigning Champions of Forgetfulness

It’s official: Apple takes the crown as the “most lost brand” of 2024. iPhones and AirPods topped the charts of most-forgotten items, followed closely by Android phones. In total, Uber reported that a whopping 1.7 million phones were left behind in rides.

Pretty standard — and a good reminder to do the classic “phone-wallet-keys” pat-down before exiting your ride.

Weirdest Items Left in Ubers This Year

The real entertainment comes from the most unique lost items, and this year’s list is a true showcase of human forgetfulness:

  • Mannequin head with human hair
  • Viking drinking horn
  • Ghostbusters ghost trap
  • Chainsaw
  • A live turtle
  • DNA testing kit
  • 2 mattresses
  • Aquarium
  • Witches broom
  • Bouquet of 100 red roses
  • Plunger
  • Peacock feather
  • Boiled eggs and a candle
  • Divorce papers
  • 10 live lobsters (yes, really)

Late-Night Losses and… Teeth?

The report reveals that the most forgetful hour is between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m., and New York City continues to top the list of cities where items go missing the most.

Trendy forget-me-nots include pickleball paddles, yoga mats, and a surprising number of legal documents — and if that wasn’t enough, Uber drivers apparently discovered more lost teeth than the Tooth Fairy could handle this year.

As Uber put it:

“Here’s hoping she left the Uber fare under their pillow!”
