Elton John says women like Haim and Linda Lindas are “making the best music” right now
“Except Sam Fender, no boys did it, girls did it,” the legendary musician told Music Week recently.
Elton John playlist is full of up-and-coming musicians, mostly women.
In a new with Music Week, the legendary British singer opened up about his current listening habits. Claiming that women “make the best music today,” citing all-female bands like Haim and The Linda Lindas.
“It’s great to see Nova Twins, Wet Leg, Let’s Eat Grandma. The Linda Lindas, Haim, and all these girls rocking and making the best music,” John, 75, told the outlet. After mentioning the male artist, he is currently a fan of, John doubled down on his claim.
“Apart from Sam Fender, no boys did that, but girls did.
In the interview, John talks about the number of establish artists currently entering the UK’s official charts including himself – and calls for more new artists to gain mainstream recognition. The musician, who is currently working on the musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada, also praise the expertise of Cold Heart (PNAU Remix) collaborator Dua Lipa.
“He was very professional and charming and deserved the money. It was easy,” John said of their experience working together. “He had everything an artist could have. He was intelligent, humble, and didn’t let his success chase him. I love working with him.”
John’s latest album, 2021’s The Lockdown Sessions. Features collaborations with artists such as Lipa, Nicki Minaj, Rina Sawayama, Miley Cyrus, Brandi Carlyle, and Stevie Nicks.
