Dave Navarro will miss next Jane’s Addiction tour with Smashing Pumpkins due to lengthy COVID
“Dave Navarro says I’m sorry to say I won’t be attending due to my ongoing battle with Long Covid that I’ve been working with since last December,” the guitarist said on Twitter Friday.
Dave Navarro announced Friday that he will not be participating in the Jane’s Addiction and Smashing Pumpkin’s Spirits On Fire tours due to continued symptoms of COVID-19.
“I hope to fully recover in October but I am still very tired and will not be able to compete at this stage.
I’m personally disappointed that our original bassist Eric Avery is back. We want to bring you the original formation, but that will have to wait until I recover. While the band is on tour, I’ll be working on new Jane material in the studio here in LA.”
“I really wish the band the best on this tour and I’m sure they will do whatever they can to make it a great show! Keep going guys!” “Maybe one night I can go to a show and see my own band for the first time. Thank you for your understanding.”
In May, the musician detailed his long-term experience with COVID, even after testing negative, in an Instagram post that has since been deleted. He first contracted the virus in December.
“So yeah, I’m one of the ones facing ‘covid remotely’,” Navarro wrote at the time, according to NME. “I’ve been sick since December and I should have returned to my old self after … no one knows how long.”
