Camilla Cabello tells Selena Gomez she once hesitated to talk about mental health
When it comes to mental health, Camilla Cabello is very supportive.
During a chat with a friend and co-founder, Selena Gomez, on the cover of Wondermind May. Cabello reveale the best mental health she’s ever received and why she finds it easier to talk about her journey now.
Everything feels dizzy and immersive now, and it’s like you’re on this journey and thinking, ‘Help me out. So I think it’s cyclical, like compulsive things,” Cabello said of his anxiety, adding that it affect his physical condition. “My body was tense, almost like I couldn’t move; my hands and everything were just tie.
Cabello, 25, also spoke at length about when he was too shy to talk about his feelings.
“I was apprehensive about even talking about those things. Because I think before this trip I was almost afraid of being found out, like. It’s weird, my brain is damage, that’s not normal,'” she said. Gomez, 29, said her reluctance to speak out was due to the stigma surrounding therapy and drugs something she was disappoint in.
“I feel [the stigma] is even more present in the older generation. People like my parents are shy about needing therapy or are afraid. The stigma of needing help frustrates me because sometimes people can say, ‘No, I don’t need it, I just need some free time or whatever,” she explains. “Of course, but just because you’re in therapy doesn’t mean there is something wrong with you more than anyone else. We all have things to do and tools to learn, and that doesn’t mean you’re “crazy” or sick.”
