Brendan Fraser Encourages Actors to ‘Have Courage’ as He Wins at the 2023 SAG Awards
Austin Butler, Colin Farrell, Brendan Fraser, Bill Nighy, and Adam Sandler were also nominate for best male actor in a leading role.
Brendan Fraser has been name a SAG Award winner for 2023!
Fraser, 54, joke that Sir Ian McKellen had advise him to “be good, be brief, also be seat” with his speech. He accepted the award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role for his performance. In The Whale from presenter Jessica Chastain at the SAG Awards on Sunday.
They co-starred in Gods and Monsters in 1998.
“I never thought I’d be offer the role of my life in this character, Charlie in The Whale, he’s on a raft of regrets. But he’s in a sea of hope,” the actor said, recalling how he first receive his SAG-AFTRA card in 1991.
“I’ve been at that sea, also I’ve ridden that wave recently, and it’s been powerful and good. But I’ve also had that wave smash me right down to the ocean floor and drag my face along there. I’ve wound up on some strange beach in a different world, wondering ‘where am I now?'” Fraser continued speaking.
“I just want you to know, for real, I know how you feel, all the actors out there who have gone through that. Who are going through that,” he added. “But believe me, if you hang in there and put one foot in front of the other, you’ll get there. Have faith.”
At the ceremony on Sunday, Austin Butler (Elvis), Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin), Bill Nighy (Living), also Adam Sandler (Hustle). They were among the other nominees for outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role.
