When Tanvi Rathod entered Mrs. Universe pageant in 2021, she knew she was entering uncharted waters. Even as a young woman growing up in Mumbai and then shifting base to Gujarat, she had already felt the societal restrictions placed on women in India. But, instead of being discouraged by them, she set out to break them up and prove that women can achieve anything they set their minds to.

Tanvi’s story is one of courage and ambition in the face of adversity. Tanvi Rathod decided she wanted to compete on an international stage and worked hard to make her dream come true. Her commitment paid off when she was crowned Mrs. Universe Generosity 2021 at the 44th annual Mrs. Universe pageant, held in Seoul, South Korea. Tanvi has since been using her newfound platform for good by challenging social norms about beauty pageants and urging other Indian women not to be held back by societal conventions or fear of judgment from their communities.

“I truly believe that if society can see Indian women achieving greatness on an international scale, they will be inspired to challenge gender-bias stereotypes and realize their own potential too,” says Tanvi, who has broken stereotypes and expectations, by representing India on a global platform. By winning this prestigious title, she has opened many doors for the women in India as she is blazing a new trail for them to follow and is setting an example for aspiring young women who are aiming for the stars.

She says that although her journey has not been easy, her hard work and tenacity have shown us all that anything can be achieved if one puts their mind to it and never gives up. It is her courage that made it possible for her to represent India on a global stage and make us all proud. Her win sets an inspiring precedent, showing that anything can be achieved with passion and dedication, no matter how impossible it may seem.
