Apple Launches $230 iPhone Pocket with Issey Miyake
Apple has unveiled the iPhone Pocket, a premium 3D-knit wearable designed in collaboration with renowned Japanese fashion house Issey Miyake. The limited-edition accessory launches November 14 in select global markets, including the U.S., UK, and Japan, marking the brands’ first official product partnership. This innovative accessory reflects Apple’s continued investment in fashionable iPhone add-ons.
Pricing and Design Options
The iPhone Pocket comes in two configurations: a $150 short strap and a $230 long strap. The short version features eight vibrant colors including lemon, purple, and pink, and can be looped onto a wrist or attached to bags. The long strap, available in sapphire, cinnamon, and black, functions as a crossbody bag. Both styles feature a ribbed structure designed to hold iPhones, AirPods, cards, and keys securely.
Fashion Heritage and Industry Response
The collaboration honors Steve Jobs’ iconic relationship with Issey Miyake—the late Apple founder was famous for wearing black turtlenecks designed by the brand. Apple’s VP of Industrial Design Molly Anderson emphasized that both companies “share a design approach that celebrates craftsmanship, simplicity and delight.”
The product has sparked divided reactions online. Tech influencer Marques Brownlee criticized the $230 price as excessive, while supporters argue Apple’s premium positioning justifies the cost. This latest wearable follows Apple’s September launch of a $59 crossbody strap, solidifying the company’s commitment to blending fashion with functionality in the iPhone accessory market.
