Ally Brooke says migraine once almost forced her to cancel a show: ‘It was awful.’
Ally Brooke talks to News about relieving migraine pain, making her upcoming debut solo album and looking back at Fifth Harmony today.
Fans know Ally Brooke’ journey from auditioning for The X Factor and scoring hits as part of Fifth Harmony to success as a solo artist, actress and writer.
However, most of you may not know that he has suffered from migraines throughout his career.
“I started exploring them at a very young age, and it affected me and affected me every day,” Brooke told News, noting that the debilitating illness nearly forced her to cancel a show in Miami. “I felt the attack, and it was terrible. However, at the time, I had no choice. I had to deal with it, and it was disgusting, but you know what? I went out and did my job.”
After trying unsuccessful home remedies like sitting in a dark room with a wet towel, the 29-year-old pop star teamed up with Nurtec ODT, which she currently uses to relieve migraine pain.
“It just changed everything for me, and I was able to do what I love without fear,” said Brooke, who has spent some time trying to figure out exactly what was causing her severe headaches. “For me, it is stress and lack of sleep. So knowing I have a busy schedule, I can use it as a preventative measure. Alternatively, if [a migraine] comes, I can accept it.
“Part of inspiring Brooke to talk openly about her experiences with migraines is that Hispanics are 50% less likely to receive a prescription for the condition than non-Hispanic white patients.” It’s real and it’s affecting our community,” he said.
“It’s, really, really cool for me to be able to strengthen my community.”
Raising awareness about migraines is not the only opportunity Brooke has linked with her legacy in recent times. Last year he announced an official transition to Spanish-language music and had since released several singles, including “Por Ti”, “Tequila”, and “Yo Estaré” with Santana.
