Olive & June Launches Plant-Based Dip Powder System for Home Manicures

Olive & June, the nail care brand founded by former Wall Street professional Sarah Gibson Tuttle, launched its Dip Mani System on October 22. The at-home product targets dip powder, which Gibson Tuttle calls “one of the last frontiers of salon-focused products.” The five-step kit promises results lasting up to 21 days and is priced between $75 and $100, depending on the number of polish colors.

From Beverly Hills Salon to National Brand

Gibson Tuttle opened the first Olive & June salon in Beverly Hills in 2013, later expanding to Pasadena and Santa Monica. Noticing that manicurist shortages limited access in many regions, she introduced a product line in 2019 and partnered with Target. The brand has since scaled to more than 15,000 retail doors, including Ulta and Walmart. In 2024, Helen of Troy acquired the company for $240 million, and Gibson Tuttle stayed on as CEO. Revenue reached about $125 million in 2025, roughly 35% growth year over year.

Why Plant-Based Dip Was a Challenge

Traditional dip powder relies on acrylic made from PMMA, which has been linked in some cases to contact dermatitis, weakened nails and a higher risk of infection. Gibson Tuttle insisted the brand would only enter the category with a plant-based formula, which she described as “a very hard thing to achieve.” Because the powder is fluffier, the system includes an extra “mini step.” It took 127 iterations with a chemist to perfect the formula.

Despite higher production costs, the company says each manicure works out to less than $3. A salon dip manicure in the U.S. typically costs $30 to $60. Gibson Tuttle says she is focused on future innovation rather than stepping away from the business she built.
