Justin Bieber’s iPhone Design Complaint Goes Viral

Justin Bieber is frustrated with Apple’s iPhone design, specifically the dictation button placement in the Messages app. The singer’s viral complaint has resonated with millions of users worldwide. In a post viewed over 44 million times on X, Bieber joked that if the dictation button interrupted his music one more time, he would “find everyone at Apple” and put them in a rear naked choke hold.

The Dictation Button Problem

The issue centers on iMessage’s small microphone button, which activates voice dictation or voice notes. Bieber explains that he frequently hits the button immediately after sending a text, causing an unwanted beep that briefly pauses his music and disrupts his listening experience. The microphone button appears in the same location as the send button, making accidental activation common during normal messaging. This design flaw affects countless users attempting to multitask while texting and listening to music.

Tech Community Shows Support

Bieber’s request for change has gained significant traction beyond social media. Elon Musk replied with multiple fire emojis, while OpenAI’s head of design, Ian Silber, jokingly invited Bieber to join the company’s weekly design critiques. Hundreds of thousands of likes across platforms demonstrate widespread frustration with the current layout.

Bieber’s proposal is straightforward: Apple should stop giving the send button multiple functions in the same location and redesign the layout to prevent accidental interruptions. Apple has not yet publicly responded to the singer’s suggestion. The complaint arrives during a challenging period for the tech giant, as several top executives prepare for retirement.
