White has quietly become the season’s defining colour, moving beyond bridal wear into everyday celebrity style. The shift got an early boost when Pantone named a soft off-white shade as its Colour of the Year, and pop culture has since run with it.
Zendaya Sparks a Grecian Revival
Much of the momentum traces back to Zendaya’s press tour for her latest film, where she played a Greek goddess on screen. Working with stylist Law Roach, she moved through a series of ivory looks marked by asymmetric draping, bare shoulders, and fabric gathered close to the body, evoking classical sculpture without tipping into costume. The girl group KATSEYE echoed the mood at a recent awards ceremony, performing in white gowns styled as a modern take on mythological muses.
Indian Labels Offer Their Own Take
The trend has found local expression too. Singer Jonita Gandhi wore an ivory halter gown with an intricate latticework train at a recent Mumbai event, reflecting the same long, sculptural silhouette without leaning directly into Greek imagery.
Designers are reworking the look through draping, ruching, and sheer fabrics rather than direct classical references. The appeal lies less in mythology and more in a sense of poise: one-shoulder cuts, exposed backs, waist-gathered fabric, and clean vertical lines that skim the body. Because white leaves little room for colour or print to distract, the construction and cut carry the entire look.
Several Indian labels have embraced the moment, offering versions in cotton, organic fabrics, and hand-detailed textures at a range of price points, giving the trend an accessible, homegrown footprint beyond the red carpet.
