Sombr Stuns at 2026 Met Gala Debut in Custom Valentino Cape

Singer Sombr made a spectacular entrance at his first-ever Met Gala on May 5, 2026, turning heads on the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Dressed in a custom Valentino ensemble designed by Alessandro Michele, the New York-born artist delivered a look that was equal parts theatrical and deeply personal. “Growing up in New York and seeing some of the most exciting people in the world on that red carpet — it was a dream turning into a reality,” the singer shared.

A Cape Five Hundred Hours in the Making

The undeniable centerpiece of the look was a hand-embroidered tulle and chiffon cape, crafted in a stunning dégradé of silver and gray hues. The piece required more than 500 hours of meticulous handwork to complete. Sombr described the experience of seeing the finished garment as nothing short of magical, calling every detail “a revelation.”

The rest of the ensemble continued the opulent theme. A lamé lace top featured an asymmetrical crepe de chine and satin motif designed to resemble ribbon wrapping around the torso. Embellished trousers with braided trim at the waist and sides completed the head-to-toe custom creation, tying in seamlessly with this year’s Met exhibition theme centered on the human body and its depiction in art.

Glam-Rock Royalty on the Red Carpet

This Met debut marks another milestone in Sombr’s rapidly evolving fashion identity. Known for his signature glitzy rock-and-roll aesthetic — often realized through Valentino — the singer has become a consistent standout on the red carpet circuit. His appearance at Vogue World 2025 in a golden Valentino suit offered an early preview of the showmanship he would bring to fashion’s biggest night.
