Milan Fashion Week Opens With Vogue World and New Designer Debuts

Milan Fashion Week kicks off its Spring/Summer 2027 season on September 22, with Vogue World Milano launching the week at the historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The seven-day event, running through September 28, will host 54 runway shows and 88 presentations, numbers similar to last season, even as Italy’s fashion industry contends with declining annual revenues.

A Season of Consolidation

Unlike previous seasons marked by a wave of creative director changes, this edition of Milan Fashion Week centers on designers refining collections they’ve already introduced. Industry observers point to Meryll Rogge’s second outing at Marni, Simone Bellotti’s third collection for Jil Sander, and sophomore shows from Maria Grazia Chiuri at Fendi and Demna at Gucci as key moments to watch. Louise Trotter will also present her third Bottega Veneta collection during the week.

Moschino’s New Creative Leadership Debuts

The week’s sole designer debut comes from Simone Rizzo and Loris Messina, the duo behind now-closed label Sunnei, who will unveil their first Moschino collection on September 25. Their appointment has generated curiosity among buyers and editors eager to see how their playful sensibility translates within an established fashion house.

Beyond the runway, Milan will host roughly 54 brand events, including a gala celebrating the opening of a Dalí-themed fashion exhibition at Palazzo Reale and a dinner marking Viktor & Rolf’s new retrospective show. The city continues investing in emerging talent too, with the Fondazione Sozzani introducing a new award for women in creative fields, offering grants of up to €15,000.

Giorgio Armani, now under Silvana Armani’s direction following the founder’s passing, will close the week on September 27, capping a season that blends established houses with fresh creative energy across the city.
