Danny Bonaduce takes medical leave from a radio show

Danny Bonaduce is taking a break to focus on his health.

The 62-year-old Partridge family alumnus announced Friday that he was taking a temporary break from his KZOK radio show, The Danny Bonaduce & Sarah Morning Show, in Seattle when he was diagnosed with a mysterious illness.

“Some news to share. I’m taking a temporary medical break from my radio show. I’ll be sharing more as I know more. I’m still working on the diagnosis,” he wrote on Twitter. “All I know is that I have time to focus on my health. I love my job and talking to you guys and will be back on the air soon.”

After Bonadus shared a photo of himself with a wand, Bonadus continued his initial message with a cheeky post: “Charlie Chaplin, also Willie Wonka, Danny Bonaduce. I joined a club of cool men with a wand.”

He was met with a flood of support from fans and friends in his response.

“I love you, friend!” writes Jonathan Shah. “Sending love, Danny!” answered Craig Bierce. I’m thinking of you, and I hope all goes well. You are a fighter – you always have been. I have so much respect for you,” Gabriel Carteris wrote in a tweet.

Bonus previously mourned the death of Partridge’s on-screen brother, David Cassidy, who died of organ failure in 2017 at 67. “I was shocked when he died. After that, I thought I was better off,” he told PEOPLE in 2018.

“From 1970 to 1974, it was like the company of a god,” said Bonaduce. “Nothing normal has happened with David Cassidy. He’s not like an older brother; he’s my idol.” His TV sister, Susan Crowe, died of rare heart disease in 2015 at 52. “Everyone thought he would be the first Partridge to go. But, unfortunately, that’s little Tracy,” Bonaduce said in a statement to PEOPLE.

“Susan is a wonderful wife and a great mother,” he added. “I will miss him.”
