“We are so grateful to be at the forefront of this beautiful story,” Blake Prince recount his son’s experience with the “Blinding Lights” singer.
The internet has proven its magic once again, and one adorable fan of The Weeknd has had the experience of a lifetime.
Last week, The Weeknd’s Phoenix Prince, 6, and his father. Blake Prince, 32, were sent to his Philadelphia concert to meet him backstage. During the meeting, the young fan presented the Abel Tesfaye-born singer with a picture and some Oreos.
The dream moment came after a visibly upset audience captured Phoenix. After learning The Weeknd was forced to postpone its Toronto premiere due to distractions. In the photos, he is seen crying outside the venue. While wearing a red jacket similar to the one worn by the star in the “Blinding Lights” music video.
“I walked in the door [at the house], and my phone went off, and I was like, ‘What happened?’ And I get messages; I see hundreds, one after another, in my private messages section of Instagram. And they say: ‘Abel is looking for your son. The Weeknd is looking for your son,’ Blake, 36, told news while telling his story.
After contacting his team, Blake said The Weeknd’s manager arranged for them to fly first class to Philadelphia and put them in a hotel. They later found out they had to come early because the “Out of Time” singer wanted to meet Phoenix in person. But before that, Phoenix had to see to the singer’s soundcheck and was greet by the band and backing dancers.
“We came into this room and saw more of the team; they were all very nice and friendly. [Then we went through the curtains and] there was The Weeknd, and he had the biggest smile on his face,” he recalled. “Phoenix immediately smiled, and Abel knelt, opened his arms, hugged Phoenix tightly. And said, ‘Dude, you look perfect.’ He said, ‘Thanks for coming and being here.'”
