AshBritt, Inc., the Florida-based paid $500,000 for America’s first promotion in April 2018. AshBrit had a $40 million contract with the Department of Defense at the time Pro-Trumps Super PAC. The Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 prohibits federal actors from donating to political committees.
In August 2018, a government observer, the center for campaign law. Filed a complaint with the FEC, warning them about the donation. AshBritt acknowledged withholding checks of $500,000, FEC records show. But said payments were debited internally to a personal account held by the company for its chairman, Randall Perkins.
The FEC found that AshBrit could not document these claims. But the commission ruled that the company’s breaches were unknown or intentional. In June 2021, Perkins agreed to pay the FEC a $125,000 civil fine. An AshBritt spokesman declined to comment.
America First Action recovered AshBritt’s contribution in May, and the FEC dismissed the lawsuit against Super PAC and its treasurer. Trump’s former White House adviser, Don McGann, represented Perkins on the matter. The FEC published its resolution earlier this month. The Florida Bulldog first reported this.
