The Duffer Brothers are looking for someone “talented and passionate” to lead the Stranger Things department.
Stranger Things creators and hosts Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, aka the Duffer Brothers, are looking to pass the baton. On a potential spinoff series to someone else if it finally comes to fruition. They believe this will allow them to explore new creative avenues. After devoting nearly a decade to the sci-fi horror series. While the couple did not name a potential successor, they did mention that they wanted the person to be someone “gifted and passionate.” However, the Duffer Brothers plan to remain “highly involved” in one capacity or another in the Stranger Things spinoff.
Matt said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, “Even the idea of Ross and I do, say, pilot [Spinoff Stranger Things] and leaving it just struck me as ridiculous.
You had to be there from start to finish. So we need to find a partner to help us with that.”
While the Duffer Brothers didn’t reveal any details about the plot of the Stranger Things spinoff. They teased that it would have the same “twist of connections” as the original series. The brothers also stressed that the spinoff won’t focus on characters like Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven or Gaten Matarazzo’s Dustin Henderson because “we’ve done all of that.” The Duffer brothers had already hinted at this with the “not what everyone expected” comment.
The Duffer Brothers’ comments come days after Stranger Things 4 Volume 2 debuted on Netflix on July 1. The two-episode season four finale drew a lot of attention when Netflix reportedly crashed shortly after its premiere. Stranger Things 4 Volume 2 will be followed by a fifth and final season. Marking the end of the Netflix saga that began in 2016. While Stranger Things Season 5 is already in the works, there’s no word on when that is expected.
