“Singer Jacob life as I know it was stolen from me and destroyed beyond recognition,” said the woman who Jacob Hoggard sexually assaulted at her sentencing hearing.

A former lead singer of Canadian pop-rock group Singer Jacob has been sentenced to five years in prison for harassing a woman in a hotel room.

On Thursday, Supreme Court Justice Gillian Roberts awarded Jacob Hoggard, 38. Amusician sentence for the 2016 attack, the Toronto Star reported.

“I believe (him). I accept their evidence in its entirety,” Roberts said, adding that Hoggard’s actions were “manipulative and especially demeaning.”

During the hour-long torture, the judge said the woman made it clear she didn’t want to have sex, saying, “No, stop, you’re hurting me.”

She testified that he beat her and dragged her out of the hotel room bed before strangling her with both hands.

“His cheerful and adventurous spirit was quenched by the sexual abuse perpetrated on him by Mr. Hoggard,” Roberts said of the incident, according to the publication. “Whatever moments of momentary gratification Mr. Hoggard may have taken from his demeanor. They have caused a shocking also utterly unacceptable loss of (woman’s) life changed forever.”

On the first day of Hoggard’s sentencing hearing earlier this month. The victim recounted how her actions had changed her life, telling the courtroom that she was “never the same,” according to CBC.

“A part of me died that day, and I can never come back,” he said. “My life as I know it was stolen from me and destroyed beyond recognition. The attack took my values, my personal space, my body, my confidence, also my voice.”

The woman who sued Hoggard for CA$2.8 million said she was also sued for her charges against the star.

“I was mocked online by strangers. Women I’ve never met make t-shirts and signs to support the man who raped me,” she said.
