Shiv Khera is an Indian author, activist, and motivational speaker, renowned for his book “You Can Win.”
Early Life:
Born into a business-oriented family involved in coal mining, Khera experienced the nationalization of their coal mines by the Indian government.
In his early years, he held various jobs, including car washer, life insurance agent, and franchise operator, before transitioning to a motivational speaker.
While working in Toronto, he was inspired by a lecture given by Norman Vincent Peale.
Controversy and Plagiarism Allegations:
Khera faced plagiarism allegations when his book “When Freedom Is Not Free” was published.
Amrit Lal, a retired Indian civil servant, accused Khera of using content from his own book, “India Enough Is Enough,” published eight years earlier.
Khera defended himself by stating that he took notes and inspirations from various sources.
Activism and Politics:
Shiv Khera is known for his activism and involvement in politics. He founded the Country First Foundation, a social activism organization with a mission to ensure freedom through education and justice.
In 2004, he ran as an independent candidate from the South Delhi constituency in the Indian general elections but was unsuccessful. In 2008, he started the Bharatiya Rashtravadi Samanata Party.
During the 2014 Indian polls, he supported the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and campaigned for Lal Krishna Advani, a senior member of the party.
Khera has filed several public interest lawsuits in the Indian Supreme Court and contested general election on an anti-corruption platform.
Recent Activities:
Shiv Khera participated as one of the speakers in the Bhagavad Gita Summit held in Dallas, Texas, USA, from December 10th to 14th, 2021.
The summit also featured other notable personalities such as Swami Mukundananda Ji, Dr. Menas Kafatos, Kiran Bedi, Brahmacharini Gloria Arieira, and others.
