After a remarkable 17-year tenure as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of SAP Labs India, Mohammed Anzy has departed from the German software giant.
Starting from January 1, Anzy is set to assume the role of Managing Director and Vice President of Engineering for NYSE-listed software company Guidewire, overseeing its operations in India. Guidewire, focused on assisting over 540 insurance companies in managing their platforms, welcomed Anzy’s appointment.
Leadership Transition and Significant Role:
Mohammed Anzy served as the COO of SAP Labs India, the fastest-growing subsidiary of SAP, until his departure on December 31. Guidewire, a key player in providing software solutions to insurance companies, has confirmed Anzy’s joining as part of its leadership team. Anzy is expected to bring his extensive experience to further enhance Guidewire’s operations and engineering functions in India.
Guidewire’s Business Overview:
Guidewire operates on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and supports over 540 insurance companies by aiding underwriters in policy creation and agents in claims resolution. With a presence in Bengaluru and Chennai, Guidewire’s India centers, staffed by 270 employees, focus on developing and integrating technologies such as digital solutions, core systems, analytics, and artificial intelligence.
Anzy’s Impactful Journey at SAP Labs India:
Anzy’s journey at SAP Labs India was marked by various roles across development, consulting, strategic management, and entrepreneurship. Overseeing business operations at five locations, Anzy played a pivotal role in empowering customers and partners to scale their businesses through technological and process interventions. He was also instrumental in establishing SAP Startup Studio, SAP’s in-house accelerator, which has supported the growth of 33 startups.
Key Positions at SAP:
During his tenure at SAP, Anzy served as the VP and Head of Engineering for SAP Excise Tax Management, contributing to the development of a SaaS-based application for tax-relevant goods movements. He also led the SAP S/4HANA Engineering Transformation program, focusing on extensive engineering initiatives. Anzy’s leadership extended to roles such as the Director of Strategy and Operations at SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud.
Educational Background and Industry Contributions:
Anzy holds an academic background from NIT Calicut and IIM Kozhikode. Additionally, he actively participated in the Nasscom Product Council from 2019 to 2021, contributing to industry discussions and initiatives.
