“I’ve been incredibly grateful for the past few weeks,” Sam Hunt said Tuesday. Announcing that he and his wife Hannah Lee Fowler are new parents.
Sam Hunt is officially a father!
In May, the country singer and wife Hannah Lee Fowler, 33, 37, welcomed their first baby together. A daughter named Lucy Lou.
Hunt announced the good news Tuesday while performing at the Stars for Second Harvest charity concert in Nashville.
“I recently had a little girl named Lucy Lou,” Hunt said from the Ryman Auditorium stage. According to a video shot by Music Mayhem magazine.
He goes on to talk about how fatherhood has changed him.
“I think being here in the music business and on the road has hardened my heart. After all, my heart has been a lot tougher in many ways since I left this small town. It’s amazing how this little girl melted; it all happened overnight a few weeks ago,’ said Hunt, tears. “I’ve been incredibly grateful for the past few weeks. I just wanted to say here on the Ryman stage how grateful I am to be a part of country music over the last ten years.”
Exactly when Lucy Lou was born is unclear. A Hunt spokesman did not comment on the good news. The happy news for the couple comes weeks after a judge signed Fowler’s motion to waive her divorce from Hunt.
In February, she filed for divorce but withdrew her original lawsuit hours later. And re-filed it in another county the same day. According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, a judge approved the request in April.
In his divorce filing, Fowler said Hunt was guilty of “inappropriate marital behavior” and infidelity and said he believed “all hopes of reconciliation have been dashed.”
“They do their best every day,” a source told People of the couple who wed secretly in April 2017 after years of dating. “Sam and his wife are looking forward to the next chapter. All he thinks about is his family and what will happen next.”
