Rachel Zegler encourages her followers to get regular breast exams – “Early detection saves lives!!!”
Rachel Zegler talks about her health.
The 21-year-old “West Side Story” actress used her Instagram Stories as a platform on Saturday to share photos of her scars after a breast cancer scare that led to an outpatient biopsy at 19.
In a leaked post captured by JustJared, Zegler shares his story.
“Two years ago, I discovered a lump in my breast and had what was undoubtedly the scariest week of my life,” she wrote in the caption.
“Due to the backlog of the pandemic, obstetricians/gynecologists are not accepting new patients, but I was fortunate to have treatment from my pediatrician, who ordered an ultrasound that led to an outpatient biopsy,” he continued. “Fortunately, it was time.”
“And now the scar serves as a reminder to regularly check my breasts for abnormal growths – fibroadenoma on my left breast is a common occurrence but still very scary to find. Early detection saves lives!!! Check your chest flesh :),” concluded Zegler.
The Golden Globe winner has used his platform to share health updates, from mental to physical. In 2018, before her meteoric rise, she tweeted, “Hello. My name is Rachel. I’m at work. I find common ground between myself and my thoughts. And that’s enough. But please ask if I’m okay. #End Stigma”
Next up for the actress is Disney’s, Snow White. Speaking to Andrew Garfield for Variety’s Actors for Actors series earlier this year, he recalled that his live casting announcement was a “big thing trending on Twitter for days because everyone was pissed.”
“Ah, these people. The people we need to educate. We have to love people consciously,” said Garfield, 38.
“We have to love him in the right way,” Ziegler replied, referring to those who criticized him for being superior to his race. She added: ‘In the end, I have a job to do that I’m looking forward to. I’m going to be Latina’s daughter.’
“I never belief in a million years that this would be an opportunity for me,” the actress said. “You don’t usually see Snow White, who is Latin. Although Snow White is a big problem in Spanish-speaking countries.’
“Blanca Nieves is a huge icon, whether you are talking about Disney cartoons or just different iterations also the Grimm fairy tale and all the stories that go with it,” Zegler continued. “But you don’t see people who look like me or like me play that kind of role.”
