Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Pays Workers “As Much as Possible”

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has a straightforward philosophy when it comes to paying his workforce: give them as much as the company can. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Computex trade show in Taipei, Huang stated plainly, “I pay my employees as much as I can. That’s what I do.” His comments came in response to a question about Samsung Electronics’ newly ratified deal granting chip engineers bonuses of up to $400,000 annually.

Huang Reviews Every Employee’s Pay Personally

What makes Huang’s approach unusual for a company of Nvidia’s scale is how hands-on it is. Despite Nvidia employing around 42,000 people, Huang says he personally reviews and signs off on the compensation of every single worker. He revealed this detail on the All-In podcast, where he also claimed to have “created more billionaires” on his management team than any other CEO in the world. Nvidia’s stock surge of roughly 63% in a single year helped two top executives cross the billionaire threshold, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

AI Is Creating Jobs, Not Cutting Them, Says Huang

Huang also pushed back firmly against fears that artificial intelligence will eliminate jobs, calling such concerns “complete nonsense.” He argued that AI is actually driving demand for software engineers, as companies need more talent to build and operate new AI systems. In Huang’s view, any developer who can generate economic value using AI becomes a more attractive hire, not a redundant one. His comments reflect a broader trend in the industry, with AI manufacturers like TSMC also moving to reassure staff that record profits are flowing to employees, not just shareholders.
