A Game-Changer in the Electric Convertible Realm
The Maserati Grancabrio Folgore is making waves as the world’s inaugural sought-after electric convertible, and rightfully so.
With its stunning aesthetics, ample seating for four adults, and the title of the fastest fully electric drop-top globally, it’s capturing attention for all the right reasons.
Unprecedented Performance
Picture this: zero to 60 mph in a mere 2.7 seconds, a feat typically reserved for supercars.
Renowned for its speed, the Folgore, which translates to ‘lightning’ in Italian, swaps its traditional gasoline-powered twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine for a trio of electric motors sourced from the Granturismo Folgore.
Positioned with one motor at the front and two at the rear, this GT EV boasts an impressive output of 818 hp and a staggering 996 lb-ft of torque.
Innovative Technology
Underpinning its performance is an advanced 800V electrical architecture, enabling rapid charging capabilities of up to 270 kW, akin to Tesla Supercharger rates.
Equipped with an 83kWh battery, this grand tourer boasts a claimed range of 278 miles, though output to each motor is regulated to preserve battery life.
Balancing Comfort and Performance
To ensure a smooth ride, Maserati reinforced the chassis of the Grancabrio Folgore around the rear tray and sills.
Despite prioritizing comfort over agility, according to Davide Danesin, the head of engineering for the GT and Quattroporte product lines, the result is a vehicle tailored to the distinct preferences of its clientele.
Luxurious Features
The Grancabrio Folgore retains the convenience of its gasoline counterpart, with a retractable fabric roof that lowers or raises in just 14 seconds, even while driving at speeds of up to 31 mph.
Enhancing the driving experience further, this EV includes a standard neck-warming system with three heat levels.
Moreover, Maserati engineers have crafted a captivating synthetic soundtrack, blending frequencies from the brand’s iconic gasoline V6 with those generated by the Folgore’s inverters.
The Price of Excellence
Anticipated to hit the market by early 2025, the Maserati Grancabrio Folgore promises unparalleled speed, beauty, and innovation.
However, such excellence comes at a premium, with an estimated price tag of around $220,000, reflecting the pinnacle of automotive craftsmanship and technology.
