The former Black Star Marsai Martin recently teamed up with Hollister to relaunch the Brand Agent program, which aims to help high school students pursue their passion through its FWD fund.
Marsai Martin has taken on her next passion project, and this one is about empowering other teens.
The 17-year-old Black-ish alum, the face of fashion brand Hollister, has teamed up with a famous clothing brand to relaunch its Brand Agent program (national ambassador program) that covers high schools across the United States. In addition, the brand will use FWD’s Hollister Fund to support its entrepreneurial passion financially.
Teen Gabby Ragsdale from California, Michael Burrell Jr. from Illinois, Brooke Sibla from California, Antonio Arguelles from Texas, Zara Mendes from New Jersey, and Zicora Akanegbu from Maryland were selected for the program.
Martin recently invited students to an intimate meeting with Hollister at Spring Studios in New York, where their work was presented. The creations of each young designer are inspired by their personal experiences.
“Partnering with Hollister has been one of my favorite things this year,” Martin told the news. “So when there’s an opportunity to work together again, it’s nothing to think about.”
The actress and producer continued, “The FWD fund and the opportunities it offers young designers are great. Kids my age need a village to support their dreams, and Hollister has come a long way.”
The young designers participating in Hollister’s FWD Fund have inspired Martin in more ways than one. When asked if the band’s work influenced his desire to start his own clothing line one day, Martin said, “Yes! Actually, yes.” “I like to be creative in everything. So we’ll see. I like to see other people shine and see what they can achieve with their attitude,” he continued. “Fashion is a vast world. We’ll see. Everything is possible!”
As for his style, Martin says he tends to “take inspiration from earlier eras like the ’90s and 2000s.”
“My family loves fashion. My biggest fashion inspiration is my grandmother Phyllis,” she added. “He’s always been a fly! And it rubs off on me.”
