Lenskart Launches AI Smart Glasses to Challenge Apple and Meta

Lenskart, India’s leading eyewear retailer that recently went public, is entering the competitive smart glasses market with its “B by Lenskart Smart Glasses,” set to launch by March 2026. The announcement marks a significant step for the company as it joins tech giants Apple and Meta in the emerging AI-powered eyewear space.

Full-Stack Technology Integration

The AI-powered smart glasses will be powered by Qualcomm’s AR1 chip and Snapdragon processors, with Google Gemini handling the AI technology. Lenskart is adopting a vertically integrated approach similar to its prescription eyewear business, designing the hardware and developing all software and mobile applications in-house. According to the company, this complete control strategy “allows us to own the data ecosystem,” giving Lenskart full ownership of user data and system architecture.

Features and Developer Ecosystem

The first version of B Smart Glasses will include UPI payments, health monitoring with food logging, photo and video capture, real-time object scanning, translations, and personalized recommendations. Uniquely, the glasses are prescription-lens capable, combining vision correction with smart technology. Lenskart has invited developers to collaborate and build additional features, creating an expanding ecosystem for users.

CEO Peyush Bansal stated that the smart glasses represent “an effort to show that India can lead the next wave of consumer technology with products that are intelligent, personal, and globally relevant.” This launch positions Lenskart alongside competing products like Meta-Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, Apple Vision Pro, and Amazon Echo Frames, marking a pivotal moment for Indian consumer technology innovation.
