Kishore Lulla : The first crossover king

Early Life:

  • Kishore Lulla is the chairman of Eros Media World (formerly Eros International Plc).
  • He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in arts from Mumbai University and attended the School of Business and Law at the Government Law College, Mumbai.

Career:

Eros International:

Lulla has been associated with Eros Media World Plc since 2005 and has served as the Executive Director of Eros International Media Limited since September 28, 2009.

He became Executive Chairman of the Eros Group, starting his career with Eros at the age of 16.

He expanded and popularized Bollywood films in the U.K., U.S., the Middle East, and entered new markets like Latin America, South Korea, and America.

Eros Investments:

Lulla is also the chairman of Eros Investments, a holding company for his investments.

Eros Investments has collaborated with an artificial intelligence firm, Stability.ai.

They have plans to develop blockchain enterprises in Dubai and announced a strategic partnership with the Dubai World Trade Centre Authority.

Kishore’s daughter, Ridhima Lulla, launched a virtual universe called Immerso.

Eros Investments acquired a 90% stake in DRM company, Ent Global.

Contributions to Bollywood:

Bollywood For You (B4U):

Lulla is the founder of Bollywood For You (B4U), a music and entertainment platform.

He co-founded Eros International Ltd. in London in 1988.

He played a role in launching the UK’s first 24-hour Bollywood digital satellite and pay TV channel on the BSkyB platform.

He contributed to globalizing Bollywood, a goal discussed by The Economist in 2000.

Controversies:

  • Eros has faced accounting fraud allegations, and in 2012, BDO, the accounting firm, identified questionable transactions involving Eros and Prime Focus, a company operated by Namit Malhotra.
