After leading Loewe through a remarkable transformation, Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson has announced his departure from the LVMH-owned Spanish luxury house. The announcement came on Monday following the brand’s co-ed presentation on March 10, 2025. During his 11-year tenure since September 2013, Anderson elevated Loewe from a heritage leather goods brand into one of luxury fashion’s most celebrated houses.
From Heritage to Hotspot
Under Anderson’s creative vision, Loewe experienced unprecedented growth. The brand’s sales skyrocketed from €230 million in 2014 to €1.07 billion in 2024, according to Morgan Stanley estimates. Anderson maintained craftsmanship as the brand’s foundation while innovating across collections. His 2015 Puzzle bag became an iconic staple, and he established the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize in 2016 to support vanishing crafts and celebrate artisanal excellence.
A Legacy of Innovation and Collaboration
Beyond commercial success, Anderson revolutionized Loewe’s creative identity through bold collaborations and campaigns. He partnered with Studio Ghibli, Paula’s Ibiza, and Swiss running brand On, while creating memorable campaigns featuring actors like Maggie Smith, Jamie Dornan, and Daniel Craig. His costume designs for director Luca Guadagnino’s films Challengers and Queer showcased his 360-degree creative vision.
LVMH adviser Sidney Toledano praised Anderson’s impact, stating he “has built a rich and eclectic world with strong foundations in craft which will enable the house to thrive long after his departure.” The designer himself reflected on his chapter closing, expressing pride in Loewe’s continued growth. His legacy—rooted in craft innovation and brand building—positions Loewe for sustained success beyond his tenure.
