Amy Schumer announced in January that she had liposuction and decided to speak publicly about the procedure so fans wouldn’t think she was losing weight naturally.
When Amy Schumer publicly announced that she had undergone liposuction, Jennifer Lawrence was slightly taken aback.
The 32-year-old Hunger Games star told Jennifer Lawrence The New Yorker that he hoped his friend’s procedures would remain confidential.
“When he did the liposuction, I thought it was a secret. And then… it wasn’t!” said Laurentius. ‘It’s part of him – I hate to use that word – kinship. On the one hand, he benefits from it. Look at his successful career.”
Schumer, 41, isn’t shy about sharing his life with fans and followers on social media and even jokes about himself when it comes to his experiences with recent surgery and his mental health.
“I wanted to share it with people ONLY because I can’t lie about myself,” the comedian told Hoda Kotb on his podcast Making Space with Hoda Kotb. “I can’t do it. Can’t say, ‘Yeah, I grind. And I just had smoked salmon, “You know what? So I have to be real.”
But Schumer also finds it contradictory when talking about a procedure that is considered very expensive for many people.
“I feel bad because it’s a privilege,” he said. “And I was like, ‘Well, you know, people with money drive nice cars’… So my ‘good car’ is that I, you know, had a liter of fat sucked out of my belly.”
Schumer says he now weighs 170 pounds. After surgery, but it’s not about numbers on the scales or fitting in with Hollywood ideals.
