The Colombian singer, 37, shared a hug and took selfies with the 85-year-old pontiff while attending the Vitae Summit over the weekend.

On Thursday, the “La Canción” singer shared selfies he took with the head of the Catholic Church. And a gallery of photos and a video of the moment on Instagram.

Balvin wrote in the caption that they took a selfie in “Latino Gang style,” referring to his Latin and Argentinian heritage. Balvin’s visit to the Vatican City was part of a two-day summit organized by the Vitae Global Foundation from August 31 to September 1, according to Vatican News.

The event’s goal was to “leverage the arts, media, also entertainment to spark a cultural transformation. That promotes the common best, universal values, and human encounter.”

The event follows Francis’ arduous six-day trip to Canada in July. During which he admitted that he might step down as Pope one day.

“Changing Pope is not a catastrophe; it is not a taboo,” Francis told journalists on a flight to Rome, according to the news. “The door [to retirement] is open; it is a normal option,” he said, according to the report. “But I haven’t knocked on that door yet,” she says.

“I haven’t wanted to think about this possibility, but that does not mean I won’t start thinking about it in two days.”
