In-N-Out Managers Now Average $200,000 a Year in Pay

In-N-Out has confirmed that its store managers now earn an average of $200,000 annually, a jump from the $180,000 figure the company reported back in 2023. The update came from a company spokesperson speaking with Inc., highlighting a pay structure that puts fast-food managers ahead of many California professionals, including software engineers and financial advisors.

A Founding Philosophy That Still Drives Pay

The company traces its wage policy back to founders Harry and Esther Snyder, who believed in caring for employees as much as customers. A spokesperson said the founders wanted In-N-Out to be known as an outstanding employer, and above-average pay was central to that goal. Current owner and president Lynsi Snyder has kept that approach in place, continuing to prioritize competitive wages, solid benefits, a supportive workplace culture, and opportunities for employees to move up within the company.

Loyalty That Outlasts the Industry Norm

What sets In-N-Out apart isn’t just the paycheck — it’s how long people stick around to earn it. The average tenure for an In-N-Out manager now exceeds 15 years, a remarkable contrast to the one-to-two-year turnover typical across the quick-service restaurant industry. Company leadership points to this stability, among both managers and hourly staff, as a key reason the chain has been able to maintain consistent service and food quality across its locations.
