Devan Odayan, the senior shoe designer at shoemaker Bolton Footwear, is the man behind the local design of the iconic Crockett & Jones men’s shoe. Founded in 1879 by Sir James Crockett and Charles Jones in Northampton, England, the brand can now boast a proud association with South Africa after Bolton Footwear obtained the license to manufacture and distribute footwear in the Southern Hemisphere in 2013.
Once again, the design process remains true to the same high-quality craftsmanship and iconic style that was created 142 years ago. But, according to Dayan, Crockett & Jones’ longstanding reputation as a classic, visually iconic, the contemporary brand has subtracted them to remain relevant – even during a pandemic and against more vicious new shoe brands.
