Amazon Plans Major Automation Push Targeting 600,000 Future Jobs

According to leaked documents reported by The New York Times, the company will eliminate the need to hire approximately 600,000 new workers by 2033 through expanded robotics and automation initiatives. The financial incentive behind this transformation is substantial. Amazon expects to save approximately $12.6 billion in labor costs between 2025 and 2027 alone. Additionally, the company projects savings of about 30 cents on each product shipped. Currently, Amazon utilizes robots in 75% of its deliveries, according to statements made to The Wall Street Journal earlier this year. These robots perform critical tasks ranging from sorting items to packaging products for shipment.
