Meta AI Chief Alexandr Wang Praises Zuckerberg’s Rapid, Rigorous Writing Skill

Meta’s chief AI officer, Alexandr Wang, has pointed to an unexpected strength of CEO Mark Zuckerberg: the ability to write long, detailed messages at remarkable speed. Speaking on the Founders podcast, the 29-year-old billionaire called it a “very impressive skill” and said it makes Zuckerberg an unusually effective communicator.

Wang said the habit initially puzzled him. Before joining Meta, the Scale AI co-founder occasionally sought business advice from Zuckerberg over WhatsApp and received surprisingly thorough replies. He wondered how the CEO found the time, then concluded that Zuckerberg had trained himself to write precisely and quickly without sacrificing quality.

A Habit Built on Ruthless Prioritization

Wang added that Zuckerberg’s calendar is tightly packed. In his view, strict prioritization is the only way the CEO can run Meta, steer it toward AI and still make time for his family.

From Occasional Advice to Close Partnership

Longtime Meta executive Alex Schultz introduced the two around 2021 or 2022, as Zuckerberg’s interest in AI was taking root. Their first meeting took about a year to arrange, and they then spoke roughly every six months. Meta was also a Scale AI customer.

The relationship deepened in April 2025, when Zuckerberg, worried that Meta was trailing rival AI developers, approached Wang about working more closely. In June 2025, Meta agreed to invest $14.3 billion for a 49% stake in Scale, and Wang joined Meta’s superintelligence effort, reporting directly to Zuckerberg.

Wang also noted that Zuckerberg, despite leading Meta for more than two decades, still seeks advice from other entrepreneurs. Wang said this openness reflects humility.

The remarks offer a glimpse into how Zuckerberg balances running one of the world’s largest tech companies with an aggressive push into artificial intelligence, a push in which Wang now plays a central role.
