Alexandr Wang, the 28-year-old billionaire founder of Scale AI and current Chief AI Officer at Meta, has bold advice for today’s teenagers: dedicate all your time to mastering AI coding skills. In a recent podcast appearance, Wang emphasized that young people should focus entirely on “vibe-coding” – the practice of using AI tools to generate code through plain English instructions.
The 10,000-Hour Advantage
Wang believes teenagers who invest 10,000 hours in AI coding tools will gain a significant competitive advantage. “If you are, like, 13 years old, you should spend all of your time vibe-coding. That’s how you should live your life,” he stated on the TBPN podcast. This recommendation comes as major tech companies like Microsoft and Google already use AI to write up to 30% of their code.
The MIT dropout, who became the world’s youngest self-made billionaire with a $2 billion net worth, recently joined Meta after the tech giant made a $14.3 billion investment in Scale AI. This deal doubled Scale AI’s valuation to $29 billion and secured Meta a 49% stake in the company.
AI’s Coding Revolution
Wang predicts that within five years, AI models will produce substantial amounts of code, potentially including “literally all the code” he has ever written. His perspective aligns with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s assertion that natural language has become the new programming language, making traditional coding knowledge less critical.
The rise of AI coding tools like Replit and Cursor has already enabled non-technical individuals to create applications and websites, demonstrating the transformative potential of this technology for future careers.
